The Office of Bilingual Education and World Languages (OBEWL) of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ (Â鶹ÊÓƵ) presents this first webinar in its 2023 Professional Learning Series:ÌýÌýCentering Voices: Representation within and through World Language Classrooms.ÌýÌýThis webinar is offered free of charge for world language educators and administrators working and studying in New York State educational institutions.

To receive a certificate of completion (including a CTLE certificate), NYS educators must view the recording of the webinar (see link above) in its entirety and then answer at least seven out of ten questions correctly on the post assessment.Ìý If the minimum required score (7 out of 10) is achieved, the educator will receive a certificate via emailÌýwithin an hour.Ìý For the convenience of our World Language educators, there are multiple versions of the post assessment available, should the required score not be achieved on the first attempt.Ìý Educators may take each version of the post assessmentÌýonce.

- Credit will not be given forÌýmore than one passing scoreÌýon any of the post assessments for a webinar (listed below)Ìýin a single academic year.ÌýÌý
- Educators may receive credit for viewing the webinar recording and passing a post assessment once in each academic year and are encouraged to take a different version of the post assessment on a yearly basis to review and test their knowledge of the webinar's content.Ìý
- It is the responsibility of the individual educator to keep track of the information on the professional learning they complete each year, including the number of CTLE hours.

Workshop presenters:
Ingrid Paredes is a Vice Principal at PSLA @ Fowler High School in the Syracuse City School District. She has been an educator for 20 years with experience as a classroom teacher, mentor, instructional coach, resource specialist, and administrator. In addition, Ingrid has presented at local, regional, and state conferences focusing on the areas of World Language Standards and Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Education. Ingrid holds a B.A. in Political Science and Theatre from the College of Wooster, an M.S.T. in Secondary Education from LeMoyne College, and a C.A.S. in Educational Leadership from SUNY Oswego. As an advocate for Multilingual Learners and Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Education, Ingrid continues to actively engage and collaborate with fellow educators, students, families, and communities to not only bring awareness, but enact change in and out of the classroom. Most recently, she also serves as a site coordinator for the New York State Latina Mentoring Initiative (LMI), which mentors, empowers, and engages Latina students and community leaders. Ingrid also serves on the Board of Directors of the YWCA of Syracuse and Onondaga County.Ìý
Diana Clark Perez is an Impact Coach in the Syracuse City School District. She has been an educator for over 17 years, and has experience teaching all levels of Spanish from Middle School through College. Her experience includes classroom teacher, mentor teacher, and demonstration teacher. In addition, Diana has presented at local and state conferences focusing on the areas of World Language Standards and Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Education. She also served on the New York State World Languages Standards Regional Review Committee. Diana holds a B.A. in Hispanic Language & Literature from Boston University, a Master of Public Administration from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University, and a M.S.T. in Secondary Education from LeMoyne College. Currently, Diana serves on the NYS World Language Leadership Council and the Board of Directors of the Syracuse City School District Educational Foundation.Ìý
