HEOP has allowed me to feel a sense of community. In aschool as big as NYU, I’ve never felt more connected to mypeers than I do with my HEOP family. Throughout my 4 yearsof college, I could explore my interests without worryingabout financial barriers. I am forever thankful to HEOP forguiding me on the path to discovering my academic andcareer passions.

HEOP means possibility. It is the badge of honor I wear withpride as I walk around the campus and make my voice heard. It is the nemesis of the voice in my head that says, “You area first generation student from a low-income family, you willnever make it.” It is my courage when I fear I am not strongenough to power through my failures. It is the community ofstudents and staff around me who give me hope, power, andsolidarity to achieve my goals and dreams in life.
